Last year in art class, the first assignment of the second semester was to enter a poster contest for the local mental health association. There were two categories, traditional and digital, within each were 3 places and the prizes for each were savings bonds of varying worth. Then there was a best in show, which would win the largest bond and also be used as the image on the association's billboard sign along one of the freeways. This won me 3rd place in the digital category, surprisingly. I didn't even think it would place, but I guess it's slim pickin's for only a county-wide contest.
The prompt was "standing tall." Naturally, I thought it was the stupidest prompt ever. I still think so, actually. Load a crap. They're the ones who need to be creative. I almost did a freakin' tree!
No one told me that the color for mental health awareness was silver, not lavender. It was a shot in the dark, anyway.

Well, mental health awareness is actually green. Gray is for borderline personality disorder awareness. Orange is for self injury awareness, yellow suicide prevention and PTSD. Teal can be anxiety awareness and Tourette's syndrome. Periwinkle (looks like lavender to me) is for eating disorders. Silver is for schizophrenia awareness. And on, and on and on...
